Bush Gardens Zoo and their Cheetah conservation program, Tampa

Bush Gardens in Tampa Bay is an amusement park and zoo. The animal living environments are unbelievable. This is one of the most impressive zoo’s we have ever visited. The theme of the park is Africa and is divided into areas called Congo, Jungala, Stanleyville, Nairobi, Morocco, Egypt and my favourite for the animals is called Serengeti Plain.

Most of the pictures below have been taken on the Serengeti Plain which you can visit in a jeep or train. On the Serengeti a large number of animals have the freedom to run around and interact with one another. You find there deer, giraffe, rhino, ostrich, zebra and many birds. The predators are not allowed on the Serengeti to avoid real life hunting experiences for the visitors. It is a family park after all.

Bush Gardens started a new conservation program for Cheetahs. They currently have 14 cheetahs and will try to breed in the future. The aim is to educate people about the fastest land predator in the world that can reach speeds of 70 Mph. Several times a day it is possible to see the animal keepers interact with the cheetahs. If you are lucky you will see a cheetah run exercise. There are only 12.400 cheetahs’ left in the wild and they are a seriously endangered species. Bush Gardens is dedicated to support wild life funds. Your visit is contributing to a good cause.

  11. What a great zoo this looks like! Love it where the animals can seem really at home. There is a zoo like t his in Texas also which you can drive through and they even have safari tents that you can stay in ( on the other side of the fence overlooking the lake) Have never heard of this one in Florida, but it looks like a great place to go! Thanks for sharing Filip!

  12. Thanks so much for sharing these. Someday I will make it here too, I know it. So far I haven't made it there on any of my trips to Florida, we have family down there so that takes up a lot of sight-seeing time too!
