The church of Our Lady, Brugge (OLV-kerk)

The 122m high tower of the church of Our Lady was under construction when we were in Brugge. This was not so terrible because the most interesting are the treasures inside this 14th century church. The most impressive is the marble statue of the Madonna from Michelangelo of 1504. It is a masterpiece of Italian Baroque bought by Jean Mouscron. This image has world fame and was stolen several times during wars. It was always returned to Brugge.

In the choir you find a triptych of Bernard of Orley (1542). In the church you see two very important mausoleums with the graves of Maria of Burgundy and that of her father Charles the Bold. Both monarchs are displayed on top of the sarcophagi. A very interesting church.
